Stockholm city is the capital city of Sweden. This city is filled with a lot of landmarks and the tourists that visit this city will not need to look so hard to see the many grand buildings in the city. Drottningholm Palace
In Stockholm, one of the famous landmarks that can be found here is the Drottningholm palace. The Drottningholm palace is the private residence of the illustrious royal family of Sweden and dates back to the 16th century. The Drottningholm palace has been in that family for generations and is one of the most famous landmarks in the whole country.

Stortorget
The Stortorget is located in an old town district in Stockholm known as Gramla Stan surrounded by quite a number of monuments, landmarks and historical structures. One of the landmarks and historical structures that surround this small town include the palatial Stock Exchange Building which today houses the Nobel library and the Nobel museum. This building also replaced the old town hall and has been used ever since and is still being used up to date.

Stockholm City Palace
The most famous landmark in Stockholm city is the Stockholm city palace. This is one of the city’s most impressive landmarks and it is also the official residence Sweden’s monarchy. The Stockholm palace itself is huge and very imposing. The palace may seem very uninspiring from a distance because this building lacks so many elaborate features that many of the buildings and landmarks in the city posses. When one is up close, this building is a grand one and it was constructed between the year 1697 and 1760. The building is very old but still maintains its old look and is still very strong which proves that the architects of those days were very good at what they did. The building has been renovated few times in recent years so as to maintain it good look but no major changes have been made on the original structure so it still maintains its original look. This landmark is open daily and there are guides who will take you through the building if you are tourist looking to learn more about the landmark and its history.

The Drottningholm Palace
The Drottningholm palace has the most classical architectural designs offering the most romantic fairytale appearance in all the land. It is surrounded by beautiful gardens which have endless topiary and the most beautifully clipped hedges which make the palace look very beautiful. There are also a few other important landmarks within the walls of the palace which are rather surprising and include the Drottningholms Slottsteater which was build during the 18th century and was used as the palace theatre on the old days and the Kinesiska Paviljongen which is also known as the Chinese pavillion. Both these landmarks have been awarded the status of being World Heritage Sites. Today the Chinese pavillion is being used as a cafeteria by tourists and other people who visit the city for different purposes. There are some charges that tourists and other people visiting the Drottningholm palace pay in order to have a guided tour of the palace. The fees that are paid by all the visitors are used to maintain the palace and cater for other small needs in the palace. The palace is open daily and the rates charged vary with the season and so there are no fixed charges for visiting the palace.

Engelbrekt Church
Another famous landmark in this city is the Engelbrekt church. The Engelbrekt church date back to the early years of the 20th century and the architecture behind the church was influenced mainly by Art Nouveau and Byzantine. In Stockholm, there is a small number of tall buildings and the church’s tower stands high above the whole city and is the only feature of the church that can be seen from miles away.

Rosendal Palace
Another landmark that can be found with in Stockholm city is the Rosendal palace which was constructed many years ago around the year 1820. The exterior of the palace is quite elaborate and showcases several antiques, furnishings and many beautiful portraits. The Rosendal palace is located on the Southern part of the city and it is easy for tourists and other people visiting the city to locate it. The people who want to have a guided tour of the palace usually have to pay a small fee so that a guide can be availed to them and they can get to learn more about the palace and its history. The fees collected from the tourists are used in the maintenance of the palace just like the fees collected from the Drottningholm palace.

Hemispherical Globe Arena
The hemispherical Globe Arena is another one of Stockholm city’s famous landmarks. The Globe Arena is enjoying the status of being the largest structure of its kind in the entire world. The Globe Arena has a diameter of about 110 meters, which is about 330 feet, and a height of about 85 meters which is about 280 feet. There is no structure of its kind in the world and this makes it very popular and a common tourist attraction in Stockholm city. The arena is used to host sporting events, shows, concerts and has a maximum capacity of about 16,000 comfortably seated spectators. The hours that the arena is open very but the arena is used for many different purposes and any person who wants to be part of any activity that goes on in the arena will have to pay a small fee to be part of the action.

Stockholm city has a lot more landmarks and has a rich history and it is an excellent tourist destination for both local and international tourists.
